- Name: Student Academic Appellate Committee
- Membership: 9 elected members exclusive of ex-officio.
Ex-officio members (with vote): The Chancellor or an appointed representative, the Provost or an appointed representative, the Chair of the Faculty, one faculty senator selected by the Chair of the Faculty, and one student member from the Student Government Association.
The chair of the committee may invite resource persons as necessary to realize the committee charge. The chair of the committee may appoint such subcommittees as he or she deems necessary. - Quorum: 4 elected members exclusive of ex-officio.
- Committee Responsibilities:
- The committee serves as an appeals board for students denied permission to drop a course.
- The committee serves as an appeals board for students who wish to appeal administrative decisions involving the interpretation and enforcement of policies pertaining to academic credits and standards.
- The committee serves as an appeals board for students seeking readmission after being declared academically ineligible to return.
- The committee serves as an appeals board for students appealing financial aid decisions.
- The Committee reviews at least annually those sections within the University Undergraduate Catalog and University Graduate Catalog that correspond to the Committee’s charge and recommends changes as necessary.
- To Whom The Committee Reports: The committee reports its appellate decisions to the appropriate administrative office.
- How Often The Committee Reports: The committee reports to the Faculty Senate at least once a year and at other times as necessary
- Power Of The Committee To Act Without Faculty Senate Approval: The committee is empowered to make appellate decisions regarding students as outlined in its committee responsibilities.
- Standard Meeting Time: The committee meeting time is scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month, including January, June, July and August.
