Engagement Education Committee Charge

Faculty Senate Resolution #25-33, April 2025
  1. Name: Engagement Education Committee
  2. Membership: 8 elected faculty members from a variety of disciplines.
  3. Ex-officio members (with vote): The Chancellor or appointed representative; one representative from the Office of Engaged Research; one representative from the Office of Go Intercultural!, one representative from the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement; the Chair of the Faculty or appointed representative; one faculty senator selected by the Chair of the Faculty; and one student member from the Student Government Association.
  4. The chair of the committee may invite resource persons as necessary to realize the committee charge. The chair of the committee may appoint such subcommittees as deemed necessary by the chair.
  5. Quorum: 4 elected members exclusive of ex-officio.
  6. Committee Responsibilities:
    1. The committee makes recommendations regarding proposed changes, including individual courses, in the engagement education curriculum.
    2. The committee makes recommendations to the Faculty Senate regarding proposed changes in the engagement education curriculum.
    3. The committee periodically reviews existing engagement education course offerings and recommends, as appropriate, changes to course engagement education status to ensure that the Student Learning Outcomes for the engagement education curriculum are being met.
    4. The committee reviews honors seminar proposals for engagement education credit.
    5. The chair or appointed representative serves as an ex-officio member of the Honors College Faculty Advisory Committee.
    6. The Committee reviews at least annually those sections within the University Undergraduate Catalog and University Graduate Catalog that correspond to the Committee’s charge and recommends changes as necessary.
  7. To Whom The Committee Reports:
    The committee reports to the Faculty Senate its recommended policies, procedures, and other procedural criteria.
  8. How Often The Committee Reports:
    The committee reports to the Faculty Senate at least once a year and at other times as necessary.
  9. Power Of The Committee To Act Without Faculty Senate Approval:
    None
  10. Standard Meeting Time:
    The committee meeting time is scheduled for the 1st Wednesday of each month.
